Light Festival in Roskilde
January 27, 2023
Take your family for a beautiful evening on Roskilde’s cultural streets. See Roskilde City Center shine in the winter darkness, from 17.00 – 22.00.
Climate crisis and energy crisis and festival of lights may not belong together – and yet. Experience an energy-saving “Living Light Festival”. Because even if we have to save on electricity, we still need to get together.
Organic Farm day- The cows are set free

True to tradition, all the organic cows in Fjordlandet come out on grass every year for Eco Day. Take the family for a nice day in the country, where in many places there are lots of activities for both children and adults.
All organic cows are out all summer long, where they get plenty of fresh air and munch on the frech grass.
Ledreborg Lifestyle Days

Ledreborg Lifestyle Days are exciting days with inspiration in Garden, Housing, Art, Gastronomy, Outdoor and Health.
There are plenty of experiences and activities for both children and adults.
Ledreborg Lifestyle Days are held at the beautiful Ledreborg Palace, which with its beautiful and unique surroundings forms a fantastic setting for the exhibition. Ledreborg arranged, as the first in Denmark, their first lifestyle exhibition in 1995, which was inspired by the English flower shows.

Take family and friends under your arm, pack a food basket and head out into the Fjordland to the many unique and exciting artists in the beautiful landscape. Every day from 11.00-17.00
Roskilde Dyrskue / Roskilde Animal Show
June 2 – 4, 2023
Roskilde Animal Show is Denmark’s largest animal show and outdoor machine exhibition.
There are lots of experiences and interesting facts from Danish agriculture for the whole family. Spend an entire day at the animal show and experience well over 1,000 animals. See when the animals are judged and when the big ring is filled with an amazing horse show.
In addition to the many stalls, animals and large machines, there is a large food exhibition, with a long list of local producers of high quality food for you to enjoy.
Frederikssund Viking Games
June 23 – July 16, 2023
Summer time is Viking time! On horseback and with deadly fencing fights, Frederikssund Vikingespil recreates the atmosphere of the Viking Age with a dramatic outdoor performance of power, desire, love and comedy.
Roskilde Festival
June 24 – July 1, 2023
Roskilde Festival is Northern Europe’s largest festival, which has existed since 1971. Every year, more than 30,000 volunteers create the framework for a folk festival for people of all ages and with interests in all genres of music.
It is not only music that is at the center of Roskilde Festival, but also art, activism, camping and freedom. The festival has a strong focus on sustainability and collaborates with several universities and researchers to create new solutions.

Come2Live Slotskoncert
August 16 – 20, 2023
Visit Ledreborg where Come2Live invites to an open-air concert in the garden at beautiful Ledreborg Castle.
Here, there is a common singing, dancing and cosiness in beautiful, green surroundings in front of the castle – an experience you rarely find elsewhere.

SnakeCity Jazzfestival
August 23 – 27, 2023
Fluctuating jazz rhythms and a terrific atmosphere are what awaits you in Slangerup, when the Snakecity Jazz Festival takes place every year in the month of August!
There is program every day with something for everyone; children’s jazz, huge parties and swinging jazz rhythms
Store Hestedag
September 2 – 3, 2023
Shows, shopping & competitions for Denmark’s largest outdoor horse and dog event with lots of fantastic horses and dogs. There are experiences for the whole family at Dyrskuepladsen in Roskilde.
Program for 2023 is ready in August.
World Heritage Day
November
Come to World Heritage Day and find out more about how Roskilde Cathedral’s red brick has placed Roskilde on the world map.
Roskilde Cathedral has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its unique architecture, and has thus come together with world-famous monuments such as the pyramids in Egypt, the Taj Mahal in India and the Great Wall of China.
For første gang vil dagen også være en fejring af, at Vikingeskibsmuseets arbejde med at bygge både efter gamle metoder, og hele fællesskabet med frivillige bådelaug, der sammen vedligeholder og sejler bådene, er optaget på UNESCOs liste over menneskehedens immatrielle kulturarv.
Roskilde Open – Art exhibition
November 11 – December 10, 2023
Experience a fantasitc exhibition of art from both renowned and up-coming artists, hosted by Roskilde Art Association situated in the beautiful Yellow Mansion in the centre of Roskilde city.

Café Knarr – New Nordic Vikingfood
Enjoy the atmosphere on Museumsøen and eat New Nordic Viking food in the café; raw materials which were known by the Vikings, so there is neither potatoes, tomatoes or cucumbers, but flatbread, angelica, sea buckthorn and pearl barley.

The towns and landscape of Fjordlandet are filled with vibrant stories, while its harbours are abuzz with activity.
