Hedelands Veteranbane

Take a trip with the beautiful old veteran train in Hedeland. Every Sunday throughout the summer, Veteranbanen runs and departures at 10.30 and 11.00, thereafter every 45 minutes until 15.30. Also visit the museum and get wiser on Denmark’s industrial tracks through the ages.

Visit and drive with Hedelands Veteranbane - At HVB you can get out and drive on a 5 km. long train ride through the former gravel pit area which for over 30 years, has been transformed into a wonderful recreational area, with lots of nature and wildlife.

The trains run on steam and engine locomotives that are between 60 and 100 years old and previously served on narrow-gauge industrial tracks.

Schedule:

The train runs every Sunday from mid-May to mid-September – A trip by train usually starts from “Hedehusgård station” and runs towards “Fem Ege” with the first ride at. 10.30.

Summer holiday activity with lunch in the green

Take the food basket with you on the trip and enjoy a picnic in the open air, there are tables and benches in the clay pit:

A ride on the railway is an unforgettable experience for some, and a reunion, with memories of a bygone era, for others. There is both the opportunity for mountaineering and a visit to the nature playground. Get off at one of the course’s 8 stopping places and see what is hidden by experiences!

Riding the Veteran Train is an ideal trip for a summer activity with lunch in the green, because you can get off at the stations at eg Fem Ege and play at the nature playground nearby and eat your packed lunch. Then you can take the train home again to “Hedehusgård”.

From Roskilde it only takes 15 minutes by car to reach Hedeland Veteranbane.

Adult ticket: DKK 80 return – Children over 3 years: DKK 40 return – Children under 3 are free. Bicycles and prams can be brought free of charge if there is space on the train.

Visit the museum in the carriage hall:

There is free admission to the wagon hall with the exhibition about Denmark’s industrial tracks through the ages. The exhibition tells the story of the industrial tracks together with the exhibited wagons and locomotives. It is also here that you can see the trains awaiting restoration, in the condition we have found them.
