The Bolund peninsula stands as a striking landmark, separated from the mainland by a narrow and shallow stretch of fjord water.
Both the peninsula and the surrounding salt marsh are home to fascinating plant life, and the area is often teeming with birds. From the top of the peninsula, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Roskilde Fjord.
Here, you’ll also find the legendary Bolund Stone, a relic from the Ice Age. According to folklore, the stone was thrown by a giantess who became furious upon hearing the bells of Roskilde Cathedral ring for the first time.
Fortunately, her aim was off, and the stone remains at Bolund to this day. If you look closely, you might still see the imprint of her hand from when she hurled it—or so the legend says.
Park at the lot on Frederiksborgvej, then visit the Bolund Stone before taking the short walk across the protected salt marsh to the peninsula in the fjord.
Halvøen Bolund og Bolundstenen ligger cirka 40 minutters kørsel fra København.
