Maiken Hejnfelt is primarily a painter and has worked as a full-time artist since 1995. Her paintings are either oil and acrylic on linen and watercolor on handmade, preferably French paper.
The light, nature and floating “avatar” islands
The light, above anything else, is her motif, Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia seen from the land or from the water, on the lake in the forest or in the field.
These are landscapes where you can almost feel the tingling cold on your cheeks, the wind in your hair and the summer heat on your skin. It is never pictures with a belt and braces, but always with full pressure on both pathos and empathy. These are landscapes that have been seen, felt and felt. (Free after Tom Jørgensen).
Some of the paintings take a turn to the more surreal with motifs, such as landscape-like floating ‘Avatar’ islands or trees.
Since the autumn of 2019, she has also worked in concrete, which mainly appears raw and unpolished. The concrete is modeled up, with a string back to Viking times and a love of form. The various subjects can have both a character of design and sculptural.
Paintings to order:
Maiken is happy to make an agreement to order paintings.
